The year is winding to a close for the class of 2012; this is the last week of full classes for seniors. As many of you may be hearing, Columbia Pictures has been negotiating with the town administrators to use the parking lot and practice field at Blocksidge. This may have an impact on parking during graduation - I'm hearing that Columbia Pictures has offered to provided off-site parking and the busses to shuttle folks back and forth - handicapped parking will still be available at
Blocksidge. If a deal is finalized, I will pass on the information with details as soon as I receive it.
Sincerely,
Layne W. Millington
MCAS: Tomorrow (5/15) and Wednesday (5/16) are late start days for Freshmen, Juniors and Seniors.

Academic Support Center Calendar
Below is the most up to date academic support center calendar. Students may request a pass from any faculty member to go to a support center during a free period. They merely present the pass to the cafeteria campus monitor when they sign-in at the start of a period. Students should take advantage of these centers to get extra help during the school day. They may also be assigned to an academic support center by one of their classroom teachers.

School Advisory Council
The SHS School Advisory Council is a representative committee composed of parents/community members, students, and teachers that act as advisors to the school and principal. They are at the heart of reviewing new procedures and protocols as well as helping the school keep abreast of burning issues that need to be addressed.
We meet on a monthly basis and the agenda and then minutes of each meeting are posted on the main page of the high school website under Important High School Information. These meetings are open to the public and we’ve often received wonderful insight from folks who have stopped by to participate. These meeting happen in the main office conference room at SHS at 2:45 PM, but can be moved to the SHS library to accommodate more people if needed. Meeting generally last a little over an hour. There are
six remaining meeting dates for this year:
Student Forum Lunches
Students are always welcome to meet with me about any issues, concerns, thoughts, or ideas they have about the school. I’ve also set aside a day a month for students to meet with me during the lunch periods to discuss anything that may be on their minds. I’m hoping that attendance at these meetings will improve (no students stopped by on November 1st). These meetings are great way to provide input into the running of the school. These meetings will be moved to the main office conference room, students may stop in either individually or in groups throughout the lunch periods on remaining six days set aside for this year:
District-Wide No Homework Nights
There will be no homework for students on the following evenings.
No Child Left Behind Report Card (NCLB)
The annual district NCLB report card is attached to this email and can also be uploaded from the main page of the high school website.
