Congratulations to Mark Rittiboon and Samantha Rizzo
Both student-athletes were honored this past weekend as Swampscott High School’s recipients of the male and female Scholar Athletes of the Year for the Northeastern Conference.
Mark was a multiple sport athlete who excelled on the football field and in the classroom He will be attending Cornell University in the fall.
Samantha captained the soccer, basketball and softball teams while maintaining a 102.65 grade point average. She will be attending Colby College in the fall where she will play soccer.

Boys’ Indoor Track: Barry Tevrow
The Girls’ Indoor Track team, the Coed Swim & Dive team and the Girls’ Basketball team had cumulative grade point averages above 90%.
The Girls’ Indoor Track team placed third 3rd with a cumulative grade point average of 93.56
The Coed Swim & Dive Team placed 2nd with a cumulative grade point average of 94.20.
And for the third winter season in a row, the Girls’ Basketball team had the highest cumulative grade point average with a 95.75.

The fall athletic teams were honored on Tuesday, December 16th at the Student-Athlete Recognition Assembly. Individual student-athletes that were celebrated for their excellence in the classroom and for their contributions to their teams included:

Three fall teams earned a grade point average of an A- or better (over 90%). And there were two teams that missed the A- average by percentage points.
Boys’ Cross Country 89.6 GPA
Volleyball 89.7 GPA
Boys’ Soccer 90.95 GPA
Girls’ Soccer 94.46 GPA

CONCUSSION IN SPORTS "WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW"
Swampscott Public Schools Athletic Department has an athletic user fee in order to help fund the athletic programs. The income from the user fee goes into athletics and helps pay for coaches’ salaries, transportation, equipment, officials, etc. Without this income athletics would be extremely limited in scope or nonexistent.
If you are in a position that you cannot afford the user fee at this time:
Step 1: Complete a Free and Reduced Price School Meals Application. Forms can be found in the High School main office.
Step 2: If your application for Free and Reduced Price School Meals was denied complete the Athletic User Fee Hardship Form (forms can be found below) and return to the Athletic Department office.
